Longnose lancetfish（Alepisaurus ferox）is a deep-sea fish that lives between 900 and 1500 meters, and its body length is 1.5 to 2.2 meters. It has a large mouth with fangs and can swallow other fish whole in the deep sea. The fangs are not used to cut the prey, but rather serve as a cage to prevent the captured prey from escaping.
It used to be a treasure trove of deep-sea fish research. Because waterfish are slow to digest, their stomachs yielded many valuable specimens, including other deep-sea fish that had been swallowed whole.
